Rochester is the third-largest city in Minnesota. It is perhaps best-known for the Mayo Clinic, which was founded in 1864 and today is considered one of the best hospitals in the world. The Mayo Clinic also heavily influences the local economy, and recent revitalization efforts have been directly tied to expansion at the Mayo Clinic. Rochester is also well-known for its green spaces such as Soldiers Field right in the center of the city, and is notably one of the few places in Minnesota to lack a natural lake. On the outskirts, Mayowood is the 1911 estate of clinic co-founder Dr. Charles Mayo.
