Shizuoka is located between Tokyo and Osaka. The main city center is located around Shizuoka Station, while Shimizu and its port make up a secondary center, which was only recently merged into the city. Like the prefecture, the city is known for its tea leaves and scenic views of Mount Fuji. The prosperity of the town greatly improved in the early 1600's when Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, made the local Sumpu Castle his retirement home.
The beautiful Japan's Chubu Region is at your disposal for an unforgettable holiday; combining these cities with a Rail Pass. Visit; Tokyo; then, Shizuoka (best known as home to Mt.
