New England is the most tightly packed region in the continental United States, comprised of the states of Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. It covers roughly 71,000 square miles (most of which is Northern Maine) in the very northeastern United States - geographically it is some of the most diverse in the United States.
