Umbria And Hilltowns Vacation Packages

Umbria, the only Italian Region having neither a coastline or a border with other countries, is characterized by hills and historical towns such as Assisi (a World Heritage Site associated with St. Francis of Assisi), Norcia (the hometown of St. Benedict), Gubbio, Spoleto, Todi, Città di Castello, Orvieto, Castiglione del Lago, Narni, Amelia, and other small cities. Umbria offers a union of art, nature, peace and calm, which is brought to climax in its Renaissance masterpieces and small medieval towns embedded in the hills. Removed from outside influences, the Etruscans, Romans and medieval feuding families have left their indelible imprint on its pretty hill towns and its countryside with overlapping hills and wildflower-flecked meadows. Often called Italy's green heart for its nature parks, it also has one of Italy's largest lakes, spectacular waterfalls, and an interesting mummy collection.
